My boyfriend and i are going to try out the raw foods lifestyle and i was wondering what is allowed. I I know that you cannot cook any of the fruits or veggies but can we eat dried and frozen? Any other tips would be great too!|||A raw foods lifestyle is a great, healthy step to take. Usually you'll be eating fresh, preferably organic things. Dried is okay as long as it's not heat-dried. So, dehydrated, not oven-dried or roasted. Heating food above 116 degrees Fahrenheit is thought to destroy certain enzymes, nutrients, etc, as well as the general "life force" of the plant. I definitely advocate trying to sprout your own seeds (try soaking raw almonds, rinsing them every few hours to keep them clean. They taste delicious and the nutritional content is much more than the original nut.)
Apparently to be a "raw foodist" you should consume at least 75% of your food raw (not heated above 116 degrees F) but some of the diet can be cooked. Some nutritionally decent vegetables are unpalatable otherwise.
I suggest doing fresh fruit and vegetable juices. If it's gonna be your boyfriend and you, it's well worth investing in a juicer and learning to make some tasty stuff. Very nutritious and enjoyable!
Good luck. :)|||Dried and frozen is OK provided that there arent pre-cooked or contain any type of artifical preservatives.|||I know very little. Raw foodists don't heat foods above 115 degrees(?) because it kills all life in the food. They do dehydrate and eat dried foods. I don't see why frozen wouldn't be allowed. They also sprout. I find this kind of lifestyle very interesting and I try to read on it when I can. I see it is a way to get into the best health possible. Good luck to you!
