So many (healthy) foods have to be cooked to be eaten. Like sweet potatos (extremely healthy) and all that. I want to go on the raw foods diet but is it really that healthy? I mean I always eat organic and don't ever eat canned or packaged foods but I still have to cook some of it, or else I wouldn't get proper nutrition. Should I go on the raw foods diet? How would I do it?|||Some foods are actually more nutritious when cooked. Do research on each individual food before giving up on cooking it.
One rule of thumb, though, is not to cook something to the point where it's physical characteristics are altered completely. When a carrot not longer has crunch to it you've broken the food down TOO much.|||It's very difficult, even compared to normal veganism. Most fruits and many vegetables, and many nuts and seeds can be eaten raw. You'd either have to sprout most beans and whole grains to make them digestible, or grind them into a flour.
You say you want to go on the diet, but why? Especially since you don't think it's as healthy as your current diet, and far more limiting.|||Honestly, there are tons of wonderful raw vegan recipes all over the internet. Samosas, spring rolls, pies, no-bake cookies! For myself, I'm way to lazy to make any of them.
For breakfast i start with a smoothie. Today in my smoothie i had banana, celery, carrot, Bok Choy, spinach, blueberries, strawberries, cocoa and it was DELICIOUS! no lie. My lunch and dinner are always salads. I suppose it sounds quite boring, but I'm very satisfied with the foods i eat, for nutrients and taste. There are many different kinds of fruits and veggies to experiment with, and as long as you keep an open mind and a wide palate, it can be lots of fun (once again, no lie).
Although i try not to endorse (raw) veganism, i totally do!
Not only is it ethical and environmental, but its damn right tasty too. One thing to add is that, if it requires willpower to be (raw) vegan, you probably aren't doing it for the right reasons. But that doesn't mean that there aren't right reasons, you will just have to look for them (and the internet makes that pretty easy).
p.s. I use to love steaks, pasta, reeses pieces and such. Nowadays I wouldn't touch any of that with a 10 foot pole. I like myself, and have to much respect for my body, to fuel up on anything but the best.|||I believe your question was:
What exactly do people on the raw foods diet eat?
Seeds, fruits, fungi, grasses, vegetables, sea plants and even some common weeds are edible raw.
Why does everyone have to put their two cents in and not answer someone's question?|||I like my steaks cooked medium well done, unless it was a cow from your own farm you don't know what kind of parasites it has so you never eat it raw|||anything you want as long as you dont cook it above 104 dergrees. Also processed food as in tofu should be avoided|||You better stick with fruits an vegetables only. Because u don't have to cook them.|||Why would you? Humans have been cooking food since they made their first fire.|||sushi, lol. but no seriously..
when people go on raw food diets, they mean fruit and veggies.
hope this helped(:|||Bear and pork meat... if you are into parasites.|||What about the following (or you could have any fruit combinations, mix in nuts, dried fruits, seeds etc:-
