Raw foods can be expensive if that's all one eats. If anyone has maintained this lifestyle without spending hundreds of dollars each month, please share your tips. I had to literally juice half a bag of oranges to get 1 glass of juice. Can you imagine with all the other foods?|||of course there is. Be creative.

This will give you the basics of becoming a vegetarian. Also do a net search on vegetarian recipes, lifestyles. You can learn alot. I found out that alot of stuff that we eat on a daily basis can already be "vegetarian", i.e. catsup, some brand name snacks., etc.

I am attempting to try this this year!|||I used to eat a raw vegan diet for a few months. I don't remember exactly how much it was costing me but it was cheaper than my diet is now. I don't recommend eating vegan ever, raw or otherwise. There are deficiencies of certain nutrients that one can only obtain from animal products. Mankind started out eating meat and needs to continue doing so for good health.
For over one year and 3 months I've been eating a 100% raw diet with raw meat, eggs, and dairy products and a small amount of fruit and no vegetables but some vegetable juice.
Eating vegan and the amounts of fruit people tend to eat on a vegan diet leads to tooth decay, lots of cavities, bone loss, nervous system disorders due to deficiencies in vitamin B12 and other health problems from deficiencies and from too much fruit or the anti-nutrients in vegetation, nuts, and seeds.
If you're going to do a raw diet I recommend eating raw meat on a daily basis, as well as the regular consumption of organ meats. Fruit juice is troublesome because of the sugar with no fiber to slow it's absorption. Fruit should be eaten whole and with fat such as butter, cream, eggs, avocado, or coconut or a combination of fats such as a smoothie with eggs, fruit, raw honey, and cream or butter.
No single diet is the best for every person but your diet does need to include a large amount of animal products. Vegetable fiber is very difficult for the human digestive tract to break down and vegetables pass through mostly undigested. We don't have the many stomachs and as long of a digestive tract as animals that were made for eating plants. Fruits that many refer to as vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers aren't too hard to digest though.
Eskimos would go 9 months of the year or longer with no vegetation in the diet, only meat and organs. I heard that Eskimo means "raw meat eater". Many other very healthy native peoples have lived off of mostly, sometimes exclusively, animal products for thousands upon thousands of years. No one naturally only eats vegetation though. It's not healthy.|||Almost but not quite.. you need some cooked foods! a pure raw food idea is a bad idea. How can anyone live on just $200 a month? I spend $300 on food a month! I do cook eggs. I don't eat any meat. I eat lots of fruit! And veggies too!
I think you could live on a raw food diet for $400 a month eating mostly fruits veggies, grains and cereals, if you want to eat raw fish add another $50 to that total monthly unless you fish for your fish!|||Let's see... $200 divided by 30 days per month.... Spend $6.67 per day. I bought 3 ears of corn this week for $1. I would think you have to go to the "farmer's market" and buy alot of "specials". Eat nuts too. Eat beans and rice, mac and cheese, nuts and rice, mix at least two of these three groups, rice or macaroni, nuts. and beans or veggies. They have lots of protein and they taste great. I think this is possible. Not easy... put possible. Fresh veggies and nuts, don't cost as much as meat. Don't juice it, eat the real deal.|||Try growing your own food. Its probably a whole lot cheaper and plus, you know where your food's coming from. Some farms these days use so many pesticides and chemicals. I'd stick with growing them my own or try your local farmer's markets. They're relatively cheap and you support local businesses.|||err, it cost about 50cent to make half glass, and $1 to make me a full glass of oj

i make juice all day and ate the following
cucumber 2 for 99cent
carrots 50cent per lb
orange 50cent per lb
banana 39cent per lb
mixed nuts $4 per lb
mixed seeds $2 per lb
celery $2 each
lettus 1 bucks
tomato $1 per lb $1.50 max. i ate alot of tomato

so there you have it, if you shop at the right store, you can er buy food at that price, and the store i shop at have the best vegg selections, the veggs looks good, not, like really fake vegetables from walmart|||THe Chinese and Indians do it all the time. Its dependent on where you live. I buy my vegetables in ethnic markets. Supermarkets in Los Angeles overcharge for vegetables. The quality in some of these ethnic markets are a lot better too. I use to go to hispanic markets, but their numbers are dieing. Chinese is common. Korean can be cheaper as well as fresher. THey have a nice selection of organic vegetables too. Japanese has a high reputation of cleanliness, but I rarely buy from them, because they are expensive and far from me. Locally I go to the middle eastern/ Eastern European market. They are cheap, but their quality is sometimes lacking. There are Thai, India and Russian markets, that I visit in rare occassion. THe only one that I feel is worth while is the Russian, but I haven't been their since the government force them to change their business. I use to go to downtown and buy bulk from the wholesalers too. The traffic makes it no longer worth while. I also buy from the local farmers market. Its rare for them to be cheaper than the supermarket, but you can find bargains. Orange juice is a luxery item especially with the freeze. I would let the oranges sit at room temp before juicing. If its cold, you get less juice. I calculated your daily expense, and it would be tough. It's barely doable in Los Angeles. but your meals might become very boring.|||If possible, get a part-time job in a raw food cafe, you might be able to eat for free or at least get a discount.|||Depends on how much you need to eat, and how choosy you are with your taste buds.
