Just generally aside from the typical fruits and veggies what are necessary food/spices/ingrideants to have in the kitchen to make Raw food meals? I am new to this raw food thing- started as just trying to be healthy and now I love eating raw! It makes me feel great! I have been doing it for about 4 months but I want to try and experiment on how to make new foods that are HEALTHY!!|||Aside from fruits and vegetables, my regular grocery list includes:
sun-dried tomatoes
jalapenos
coconut
dates
cacao powder
coconut oil
agave nectar
apple cider vinegar
Nama Shoyu
olive oil
flax seeds
sunflower seeds
nutritional yeast
almonds
brazil nuts
macadamia nuts
pecans
pine nuts
pistachios
coconut water
Lara Bars
The best books to start with are "Raw Food Made Easy" by Jennifer Cornbleet, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" by Lori Baird and Julie Rodwell. Both have good recipes that don't require specialty equipment, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" is packed with information and resources.|||I've been raw 2 and a half years. Raw is great, but I've learned that raw doesn't necessarily mean healthy. The more you do to food the less healthy it becomes.
If you share the view that raw is healthy because it's natural, then don't get a dehydrator. If you really want to make stuff, you could make smoothies.
raw nuts are not usually raw. They're dried out, stored for a long time (and the fat gets rancid). Also, nuts are not needed/important,
Aside from new meals, how about new foods. Look around more.....I highly recommend farmers markets: unusual fruits and veggies, less pesticides, and picked riper = healthier and tastier.|||WOO RAW!
invest in a dehydrator! honestly, its the best 300 bucks youll ever spend. you can make all sorts of delicious RAW food! like crackers and breads, fruit leathers, and chips made from kale, zucchini, sweet potatoes etc.
so yummy and so healthy :D|||papaya

raw sprouted breads
soaked beans and lentils daily ( soak for two weeks or more to get them super soft, or just a few days to be edible)
