He is a 6 year old male who we adopted a year ago. He was on 9 Lives before we got him, we switched him about 8 months ago to Innova EVO, and he has stopped throwing up dry kibble. I want to switch him to canned and raw but he throws it up. We have tried Innova and Merrick wet foods, and raw turkey and salmon, but he pukes every time. Any suggestions? Or just keep him on dry?|||Its really not good to be on all dry (especially for a male cat) as it tends to cause more UTI's.
I would try some other brands of canned food (Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Iams, Natural Balance (get chicken, lamb and beef - NO fish flavored foods).
Try some boiled chicken breasts at first, then if things are ok, only half cook it and see what happens. Hopefully you can get him to eat raw chicken or hamburger in time.
The only raw our cats get (as well as the canned/dry too) is chicken or hamburger/beef. I don't feed any of my cats fish - raw or cooked or canned.|||I recommend a vet visit to rule out any parasites or other issues, but it sounds like he might have a food allergy. I've had cats that couldn't eat fish at all. You also shouldn't be feeding him raw meats at all....(raw turkey). If you want to give him a "treat" you can give him plain, boiled white meat chicken with no seasonings.|||Call your vet and schedule an appointment, just to rule out any medical conditions but if dry food doesn't upset his stomach stick with what works.|||You are not supposed to switch cat food it messes their stomachs up if you do give him a combination of the two foods so it won't be to hash on them|||have you tried probiotics? if that doesn't work, I guess you can keep him on EVO dry,|||you shouldnt give cat raw food it can cause worms
