I would like to try a 30 day raw food diet for cleansing purposes.
I've tried searching for nutritional information because i'm unaware of what fruits and veggies are best for you and what you need most of throughout the 30 days.
I'm a vegetarian anyway but I get most of my protein and calcium from processed soy products and soy milk. Also what other foods besides fruits, veggies and nuts can you eat during the 30 days? Can you have almond milk or yogurt? All all nuts roasted? Any information (mostly nutrition facts) would be greatly appreciated!|||I'm not experienced as a raw foodist, however, I do eat a whole plant based diet that is low in fat. As I understand it, a raw foodist can cook 30% of their foods and still retain that moniker. Because you are eating processed soy products, it's clear you or your vendor are cooking beans.
As a pure vegetarian, I eat cooked beans. I suspect that sprouted beans would be critical to providing part of your protein requirements. Of course other proteins are provided by whole grains and leafy green vegetables. The leafy greens are rich in protein, calcium, and iron.
Soy just sucks from a flavor perspective, so manufacturers of processed soy include additives that are not all that healthy. It may also be genetically modified. There are natural hormone effects which are considered to be a health hazard. Processed soy products cooked. Please consider preparing more delicious varieties of beans that you can prepare yourself instead of letting some greedy vendor do it for you, adding artificial sweeteners and flavor enhancers.
To summarize, you need:
+ Leafy greens. (raw)
+ Beans (not soy, but other beans are great cooked or sprouted)
+ Grains (you will need to cook wild rice or another whole grain, preferably not wheat or gluten)
+ Whole fresh fruit (Not commercial juice!)
+ Colorful vegetables (raw)
+ Ground Flax Seed (Omega-3 Fatty Acids)
+ B12 and D3 as needed
+ Pure water, preferably deep well water
Avoid almond milk, coconut milk, and roasted nuts because they are high in fat. Even vegetable oil is unhealthy because it contains a lot of calories and not much nutrition. As a raw foodist, it's a good idea to stay away from all processed foods including excess oil, fat, sugar, salt, nuts, avocado, and processed ingredients like MSG and aspartame (soda pop).
