I know some people who adhere to this diet (raw fruits, raw vegetables, raw seeds and raw nuts) and they swear the health benefits are amazing!! Is anyone here on this diet or know anything about it?|||fruitarians and raw foodists are not the same.

my parents are raw foodists, though it's extremely rare that a raw-foodist is 100% raw. being a raw foodist just means that you try to eat mostly raw. i've met many raw foodists and they have all said they are ~ 50% to 90% raw. works for some people, not so well for others.

the principle is that they say cooking destroys the plant enzimes which are good for you. the science behind it is sketchy at best so i am not a raw foodist myself.

however, you definitely feel healthier and fresher after eating at a raw foods restaurant.|||They are called fruitsts|||To a certain degree, yes, it is good for you.
Cooking food actually causes it to break down and loose some of its nutrients and flavor. This is basically a vegetarian diet since there aren't too many raw meats that are suitable.

Still, raw is not always best. Broccoli that is lightly steamed tastes a lot better than raw. Plus, there are a lot of sicknesses that can occur from eating raw products, weather or not it's meat.

Some people may argue that it was how the hunter/gatherer culture we once were used to live, but look at the length of their lives compared to ours.

The best diet is not to stick to one theme/thing. It's about balance. Believe it or not your level of activity also counts as part of your diet, so you could be the healthiest eater in the world, but if you're sedentary, it won't matter.

Your best bet is to get active and eat a little bit of everything. Even something like ice cream or cheesecake is fine. Just not every day.

A diet is how you eat, not how you lose weight. If the raw diet is something you want to try, go ahead, but I would suggest you try some sashimi in it so that you're still getting your specialized proteins needed to keep the body running. Beans can only do so much, and eating them raw might do a number on your teeth.

Also, steer clear of store bought raw meats. Nothing good can come of that.

I've never been on the diet, but in a lot of ways food is my life and I always like to enjoy it to it's fullest.|||yep i m been on it 4 5 mothes|||Are you kidding? You wouldn't get nearly enough nutrients from raw vegetables, fruit or nut! Are you absolutely bonkers?

If you try it and stick to it, I'd give you a year at most, and I don't mean until you give up.
