I don't generally eat a lot of raw foods specifically because of this problem but as it's summer now I do want to be able to eat salads without experiencing this problem. I have eaten a couple of salads over the last 3 days and have suffered with stomach ache and gas as a result. I tried eating the salad with starches and cooked food same result. I tried taking liver salt to alleviate the problem, didn't work. Yesterday I ate an entire pineapple for the enzymes which did seem to work by today but when I ate another salad at lunch I'm left with the same problem. I have tried buying capsules of food enzymes but ironically they ended up upsetting my stomach too in the end. What can I do? I want to lose weight by eating raw foods and I also want to boost my intake of antioxidants by eating natural foods instead of supplements. Could the problem lie with just a specific salad food e.g. red pepper sometimes I haven't had this problem e.g. with some green leafys but sometimes I do!|||What kind of lettuce are you using, Ice burg is not a good nutritious lettuce. Romain and spring lettuce is excellent. Try adding all different veggies in the salad and nothing of what you used to put in there. Add different things like; chick peas, broccoli, sunflower seeds, red onions, corn, beans, spinach, etc. Than gradually add one at a time for a week of what you used to add into your salads and find out what is effecting your stomach.
Another thing is VINEGAR, I read in "Fit for Life" that you should never use vinegar in salads, only in cooking. Because it irritates your digestive system. Use Lemon juice instead (fresh is best).|||Cooking vegetables makes them more digestible. The only thing I can suggest is integrating raw foods slowly, i.e. adding some steamed veggies to a raw green salad, and building up more and more raw foods into your diet gradually.|||My sister had similiar problem and she took Beano|||stop the things that trouble you. go to the doc and get prepared yoyr diet chart.
