How much of raw foods do you need a day to reach caloric intake?
What is a typical day menu? (not looking for recipes here)
How much of what? Anything will work. Thanks :)|||Hi! I'm not a raw foodist or vegan at all, but I am vegetarian so I can offer a little bit of input.
I would suggest eating lots of dark greens like broccoli, any beans and nuts for a little more protein and starchy vegetables like potatoes and corn for extra calories.
Other than that I don't know too much about calories and proteins for fruits and veggies, but when I want to find out I go to an online food diary, the one I use occasionally is fitday.com
It tells you the caloric and protein equivalent for any food you select, including fruits and veggies and you are also allowed to portion it. Say you only had a cup of apples, or 0.5 of a grapefruit, or 4 kiwi slices. So that is always handy.
Another reason I like it is because you can record when you work out as well and what you do and how long you do it for. It's usually pretty accurate when coming up with the calories you have burned from walking fast or slow, running fast or slow, even random things like crunches, and lists the calories you automatically burn that day just because we burn calories from sitting. So since you wouldn't be getting that many calories in you that might be a helpful source to make sure you don't burn off too many.
As for a typical day menu, I imagine mine would go something like this (based off the fruits and veggies I enjoy)
Breakfast: grapefruit (raw sugar optional), avocado with pepper sprinkled on top
Lunch: assorted fruits and veggies such as grapes, apples, carrots, broccoli, squash or zucchini, pineapple...all in bite sized chunks; edamame; nuts
Dinner: I'd make a salad from hearts of romaine and depending on my mood either make it a veggie or fruit salad. For veggie I'd do shredded carrots, diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, corn, red peppers, etc. Experiment with different flavors, depending on your preferred tastes. For a fruit salad I usually make it with red grapes, strawberries and diced avocado, you can always add more like mandarin orange slices and your favorite nut. Dressing is optional but I would recommend for doing it raw extra virgin olive oil mixed with lemon or lime juice, I'm sure you can find a recipe for something like that.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.
