ok so i know its weird but listen i thought about it we get sick if we eat raw chicken from salminella so we cook it to kill it but isnt our stomachs loaded with acid that will just like destroy the salimella whats the point of cooking it then|||We can eat them. The problem is that when we buy the meat it isn't sterile. It has been handled and stored under refrigeration. Refrigeration does not completely stop bacterial growth, it just slows it. And there is a temperature rise during travel from the retailer and during meal prep. So if some bacteria got on it during butchering, which is pretty much unavoidable, it can have grown a little bit on the meat. Stomach acid does destroy most of the bacteria, but if there are a lot, or if you are a small child or have some digestive issues, some can survive and infect you. It's not really worth the risk.|||No, salmonella isn't affected by stomach acid.

Don't believe me? Go ahead and test out your theory . . .

You'll be thinking about this answer as you're sitting on the toilet all day tomorrow.|||Nobody says you "cant" eat raw meat..its all about preference.... why do I prefer cooked?...Taste.|||We dun eat raw because no one wants to get sick. As simple as that!!
