I'm not planning on switching to the raw diet to lose weight, but I'm worried about the high fat content of a lot of the "permitted" foods (especially the nuts). I really like nuts and since they seem the most filling (although I know they are not necessarily), I'm scared that I'll be eating to many of them and gaining weight. Has anybody tried the raw diet before? Did you actually gain weight? Did you limit the amount of nuts you ate (and if so, by how much)?|||I have tried this diet, and YES you will gain weight if you overdo it with the nuts. Even though nuts are healthy fats and good for the heart, calories are calories and too much of anything will cause you to gain weight of course. If you feel you need them, just have a few with every meal. Fill up on salads or fruits, and then treat yourself to a few nuts a few times a day. This way you won't feel deprived and end up eating way too many more than you should in the end.
It is totally possible to keep the raw lifestyle, it just takes dedication, and the health benefits I think outweigh its difficulty beginning the diet in the long run.
Good luck!|||You got all wrong. There is healty fat and dangerous fat. Also there is good cholesterol and bad one too. so by eating nuts you won't get fat.|||yes, nuts have fat, but it's "good" fat, not the bad fats. However, with any "diet" it is doomed to fail. You would do better to just try eating healthier, exercising more, and when you do eat, to do so in moderation. Too much of anything (even healthy foods) can end up being unhealthy. And if you don't eat proper portions, yeah, you will gain weight on veggies, fruits and whole grains.
