I have researched that a raw foods diet is safer and better than the traditional kibble. because kibble has certain bacterias. And that before kibble was ever here dogs ate raw foods. I havent found anything that is a disadvantage to a raw foods diet except cost? what should i do?|||You should probably consult a vet before changing your dogs diet. Just to be on the safe side.|||l think its better chooked.|||go for it. dogs love raw meat. But make sure that what you mix with it is easily digestable for dogs.|||I'd also be concerned about the bacteria in raw foods, too, especially raw meat.|||You should try it you should do what u think is best for your dog even if it cost you more money|||Don't do it. Your dog is much better off with Science Diet or Iams.|||Definitely talk to your vet and find out from them if this is a good idea. Raw food won't hurt your dog, but you need to make sure that it is getting all the proper nutrients. Most kibble is formulated with nutrients that the dog's body needs, while with raw food you will need to make sure your dog gets a variety of the right nutrients. Good luck!|||I have never heard of a raw food diet for pets. I have always used traditional kibble and have not had any problems. I use the die free dog foods and have never had any known problems with the dogs health in relation to their food.|||I have a suggestion for you.. why not supplement your dogs diet with raw meat..that way you know that they are getting enough carbs and protein..I do this with my cats.. they get some fresh meat everyday..normally chicken or beef..and they are all thriving..they still eat their purina, but they love the fresh chicken.|||If your not worried about pancreatitis witch can kill a dog and the high Vet bills if the dog does get pancreatits from the raw meat.

It's your dog.......|||if you want your dog on a diet. dont go with raw foods. my friends dog did and got very sick with the rawness and switching her diet. you should switch her to another diet but take it slow. you dont want to rush it and hurt her. if the raw thing works out for u then good luck but i would go with something else and take it slow. well like i said earlier!LOL GOOD LUCK!|||I would highly suggest a raw diet. And a raw diet isn't that much more expensive than a high quality kibble diet(Innova, canidae, etc). The best raw diet is whole prey, but I don't know of many people who do that.

It's perfectly safe if you do it right. Dogs stomachs are built to break down the bacteria you find in raw meat.

Also, don't believe the chicken bones splinter so you can't feed it thing. Chicken bones only splinter if fed cooked, when fed raw they grind easily.|||switch to raw|||I have heard that as well. Unfortunately, this is messy and the vet opinions vary widely on this topic. I would strongly suggest INNOVA EVO made by Natura. This can only be found in smaller stores (not the big national chains) and is slightly more expensive but totally worth it. It has about 40% protein and is the closest thing to raw meat you can find in a dry food. Go to their website below and you can compare it to any other food.|||Dogs would naturally eat raw meat, and you know this:) acanine's digestive tract is strictly designed to digest meat products, so little additives like corn, rice, wheat, etc. that are found in kibble are not naturally a part of a diet they would get in their natural habitat. to be perfectly honest, kibble is bought because it is convenient for the human, not the dog. it's in a neat bag, no mess, no spoilage, and so on. you are absolutely correct that raw diet is safer and definitely healthier than kibble. Just like human food, kibble companies also use additives to supplement nutrition as well as keep cost down (think partially-hydrogenated oils and fructose corn syrup in human foods). To fully answer your question, a raw diet is nutritionally complete for your pet. although a doggie multi-vitamin may be added, it is not necessary. when switching your pet's diet, do it gradually, 1/4 meat 3/4 kibble for a week, 1/2 meat and kibble next week, and so on until meat is the full diet. to add fiber and aid bowel movement, pet grass is a treat most animals on a raw diet find helpful in digestion and regularity:)
