I am currently a vegetarian (I have been for 3 years), but I want to also eat raw foods. I don't really know where to start. What should I eat? And can I have olive/ vegetable oil? Do you really loose weight from eating raw foods?|||Raw foodists eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts, fresh juices, and anything that can be made by a combination of these things.

Yes, raw foodists consume olive oil. Purists insist on "cold pressed."

Yes, most people lose weight.

The best books to start with are "Raw Food Made Easy" by Jennifer Cornbleet, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" by Lori Baird and Julie Rodwell. Both have good recipes that don't require specialty equipment, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" is packed with information and resources.

Some good websites:

It is also helpful to keep in mind that one is considered a raw foodist if they consume 75% or more of their food raw. This leaves plenty of room for the occasional cooked meal.|||I am a raw vegan and started out by just jumping in and eating whatever I wanted as long as it was raw.

My suggestion would be to buy a raw food DVD or two along with a recipe book and just get started. The DVD's were a real inspiration to me in the beginning. Sometimes the recipes can appear too complex and discouraging on paper but when you see them actually being made it's obvious just how simple raw vegan food preparation really is.

www.rawfoodtalk.com is a great forum where you will get lots of support. Check out the 30-day challenge for newbies.

Best of luck to you!|||Eat whatever you want. Anything can be eaten raw shy of a couple veggies and fruits from across the world. Start with just simple salads, add different things to find out what you like when it comes to uncooked produce. You can eat oils, your not looking to become a fruititarian so it is no big deal. Just try stuff.|||Well first off, never eat raw meat as I'm sure your aware.

Salads are a good place to start, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cucumber are all raw etc.

Perhaps you should try sushi for your proteins - raw fish, never had it myself but it may be nice.

Have nuts and seeds and fruits for snacks.

And if your open to not so healthy raw foods I hear raw cookie dough is very tasty.

And eat raw eggs at your own risk....

drink wise, plenty of water, fruit juices and smoothies!
